Soft Spin (Performance)
Soft Spin (2014)
In conjunction with the Toronto version of Soft Spin, the bustling lunch hour at Brookfield Place was playfully interrupted with an unannounced site-specific dance performance. Conceived by Heather Nicol and choreographed by Andrea Nann, the work began with sixty men and women slowly shedding their business attire to reveal flowing, colourful dresses inside. Members of the Radiant Brass Ensemble improvised based on a score composed by Bruce Nicol. Below the oversized sculptural forms overhead, the musicians and dancers moved through the vast space toward one another, gradually forming groups, transforming the atrium into a gently swirling parade of colour and sound, and sculptural form.
